Graduation and Front Porch Summer Decorating
My posts have been very few over the last few months. I've been working more hours at work which limits my time at home while trying to work on projects at home. Very hard to find time to maintain a blog with that kind of schedule. Thankfully I don't have the added pressure of keeping a schedule for my readers since my blog isn't about making money!!
This is real life decorating when you work full time outside the home! It isn't organized or always pretty but it is REAL!!
Our youngest son just graduated from high school! So proud and ready for the next stage of life for him and for us. Just so you are aware, Mr. Creative is 6' 2" and I'm 5' 11" so it is quite obvious that our baby boy is 6'6" because I look short!!
Of course graduation meant a "graduation party"! That means let's try to kill ourselves to get all those things done around the house that we have just let go over the past few summers! We patched asphalt, cut a quarter mile of weeds along the road, power washed the house and decks, stained the porch and deck, painted outside furniture, painted the inside two story foyer/family room and painted inside furniture. There was still more things that needed to be done that just didn't make it!
I'll show you the front porch today! Those boxwood bushes need to be pulled out and new landscaping planted. Maybe this fall!
The wishing well that hides our well pump got a nice coat of redwood stain! Oh and a basket of flowers.
I stained the glider again and made some flower arrangements. I've decided to go with faux flowers on the porch now because we are gone most every weekend in the summer and real flowers die if not watered everyday! Not interior decorator appropriate but a real life adjustment!
The rocker used to be the old dark stained kind that we got from Mr. Creative's grandma. It wasn't getting any use inside so I decided to paint it white and move it to the porch. Now someone sits in it almost every day!
Another view from the side.
A view from sitting on the glider. Shadow isn't supposed to be on the front porch but he found the gate opened and sneaked his way up there! I have two hummingbird feeders that they are just fighting over. I enjoy sitting out there and watching them!
Thanks for stopping by and I hope to post pictures of our foyer sometime soon!
